![]() ![]() Just because we opted to test the Sonos Arc on its own for you doesn’t mean that’s the way we’ll always use it. It’s true: in a fairly large living room, the Sonos Arc provides plenty of sound, coming from all directions, to allow you to happily lose yourself and simply be entertained. The Arc also does such a stellar job of sending the sound around the room that we didn’t miss the surround speakers that we hadn’t yet configured. It adds a significant amount of low end to the signal, so much so that we didn’t even notice that we were only using the Arc and not a subwoofer. The Arc delivers a wider, fuller, more immersive sound. Using the Sonos Arc for the past week we quickly realized what “better” sounded like. We just didn’t think it could get any better. Quite frankly, the Beam has given our 25×15-foot viewing environment the best listening experience it has ever had (better than all prior-and more expensive-Sonos home theater products, too). In our living room we’ve been happily using the Sonos Beam for the past two years. Sonos Arc: The Upgrade We Didn’t Know We Needed Until We Had It We’ve had a few days to take a look-and a listen-to what essentially becomes their “Pro” soundbar, and we are duly impressed. That might be the deciding factor for most people but if you do decide to take the plunge and splurge, you won’t be disappointed.Sonos’ latest home theater speaker, the Sonos Arc, begins arriving in customers’ homes later this month. While there is no subwoofer included, you can purchase the Sonos Sub for $999, the bass from the Arc is still very impressive - especially with some tweaking of the sound through the Sonos app.īut it is quite an investment, coming in $1,399 for the Sonos Arc. It’s one of the best soundbars that I’ve tested and really lives up to the claims of bringing immersive, cinema-quality sound directly to your living room. The Sonos Arc is a home entertainer’s dream. Sonos ‘Arc’ premium smart soundbar Credit: S Final thoughts You can also play music directly from your phone. This will connect your accounts from Spotify, TuneIn and iHeartRadio - just to name a few. Outside of Sonos Radio, there are plenty of other ways to play your music through the Arc by using the app. Sonos Radio is available and comes with hosted interviews, custom mixes and artist-first programming. Credit: īut it’s not all about watching TV shows and movies with a great experience on the Sonos Arc. Using Google Assistant was flawless and worked easier than the integration on the LG TV. If you like Amazon’s Alexa you can simply enable this through the Sonos app.īut if you want to use Google’s smart assistant you can also set this up by linking your Google account. When it comes to smart assistants there is choice - and that is a great thing. The sound you’ll get is pretty incredible for a device that doesn’t look out of place in your home. Inside you’ll find eight woofers, three tweeters and 11 amplifiers that create an immersive sound experience for your favourite TV shows or movies. This means that you can easily connect other Sonos devices to create an immersive surround sound experience. I don’t have any other Sonos devices to test this out with, but the ease of integration with existing Sonos speakers is why the company is so popular. The new Sonos app is a great way to control what is playing on the Arc - as well as any other Sonos speakers you might have around your house. ![]() On top of the Arc there are four buttons - volume down, play/pause, volume up and a function to turn the microphone off if you’re not using the smart assistant functionality. There was nothing additional I need to do for this. ![]() On my LG TV, I use a Vodafone TV box that runs Android and the remote automatically replaced the TV and started controlling the Sonos Arc. ![]()
